wow, it's sixty two years ago yesterday that auschwitz ended.
makes you stop and think for a moment doesn't it?
i always knew that "auschwitz was bad and we 'liberated' it", but i never really knew it wasn't us, it was the russians who liberated it, sure we had our own liberations, but not the one big one, auschwitz, the most fameous of them.
and it makes me wonder why it is that we were never taught who it was who liberated auschwitz? I mean i was a history major, and professor kinney might have mentioned it once, but i'm certain no one else mentioned it, and even he didn't make a big deal out of it. i mean we had people coming into class and telling us what it was like to libertate a pow camp, a nazi death camp. and not once did anyone mention anything about how we didn't get most of them, they were mostly on the eastern front. No one thought to ask which ones "we" libertated, and which ones the "commies" liberated, since that great clash of civiliaztions which supposedly ended in 1989 with the fall of the wall (made real for me, not by purchasing chunks of concerte or by watching tv, but by reading about it in a magazine, "when we got home from dinner, we tured on the tv and saw the wall was coming down, we had the use of a porcshe 928 (remeber in 1989 this was the good one, the 185mph one, not like before or after when it was the 911) so we were driving towards the branden-burge gate, with all possible haste, 170, and we came upon this tibant going 40 mph, and swevered to miss it...."
sixty two years. and already we've forgoton to mention it on any of the mainstream media outlets... sure there might have been a little mention of it in the paper, but i don't rember anything bigger when it was fifty years, or the year before the last....
but then again, hitler did have some great ideas, for instance te auto union type C and D where both due to his influence. never mind that he quite possibly never saw them race, he was busy invading poland and all, but he made possible thing that took another thiry-fourty years to develop on their own. if there was one car i would like to have a replica of one day, it's an audi type D, oufited with ~500hp, put to the gournd by four narrow tires (six if outfited for hillclimbing), a gas tank and a seat. it would be an incredible ride. i was never a fan of the auto union (sometime after the war it became ~audi, before it was four seperate auto compaines) streamliners though they were signifigantly faster, ~360 kph vs ~300, though they had a more modern bodiy, a body which though it is beautiful by todays standards, it's nothing much compaired to the original open wheeled cars.
and hey, genocide is happening in darfur, at this very moment, and you know how much i know about that? i know it's in africa, northern western africa, but that's about it. i mean really. that's about all i know, there are this one group, musliums, but not just muslims, arab muslims and they are killing all of the blacks who live there, but beyond that? nothing, the same as we are doing to help out the africana in darfur, sudan.
